Recently I heard this preached as a sermon’s conclusion, and it has resonated with me that most commonly we as Christians struggle with these.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1 John 2:16-17, KJV
The three common struggles we as Christians face, and how do deal with them are:
- Pride of life => praying will help us humble ourselves
- Lust of flesh (sexual immorality) => fasting helps
- Lust of eyes (e.g; greed, materialism, envy) => giving to others, and to God
