Prophetic Part 3: Different Flavours of the Prophetic Anointing

Prophetic Part 3: Different Flavours of the Prophetic Anointing

This series on the prophetic is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended classes on this topic at church in Mar 2024.

  • There are different flavours in the prophetic too
  • Not all prophets prophesy in the same style
  • For example, John the Baptist was a prophet who had no miracles
  • While in contrast, prophet Elijah / Elisha had many miracles
  • Rev 1:4, Rev 4:5: Seven Spirits correspond to the seven lamps, held by each of seven churches addressed
  • Rev 5:6: Seven Spirits described as horns: correspond to different level of authorities of these Spirits carry
  • Seven Spirits also described as eyes: correspond to different levels of discernment these Spirits carry

Seven Spirits of God (Isa 11:2):

  1. Spirit of the Lord
  2. Spirit of wisdom
  3. Understanding
  4. Counsel
  5. Might
  6. Knowledge
  7. Fear of the Lord

Four categories of Spirits:

  1. Spirit of the Lord
  2. Spirit of wisdom and understanding
  3. Spirit of counsel and might
  4. Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord

Four flavours / winds of the Prophetic (Ezek 37:9):

  1. North wind: Spirit of the Lord
  2. South wind: Spirit of wisdom and understanding
  3. East wind: Spirit of counsel and might
  4. West wind: Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord

North wind:

  • Spirit of the Lord: God’s presence (Prov 25:23)
  • You love intercessory prayer, worship, music, dance, art
  • E.g; David playing the harp

South wind:

  • Spirit of wisdom and understanding: Restoration (Zech 9:12-14)
  • You have a heart of mercy, and wanting to see wholeness in those people
  • You will find yourself prophesying about restoration
  • E.g; Elisha restore dead people

East wind:

  • Spirit of counsel and might: Miracles, judgement, and breakthroughs (Gen 41:23)
  • Majority of your ministry is on confronting authorities, in places outside the church
  • Where there is a fight between light and darkness
  • You are called to prophesy judgement, with the end result of repentance
  • You play a role in changing cultures, and shifting policies
  • E.g; Elijah, and John the Baptist calling people to repentance
  • Daniel and his three friends, standing up against authorities (please refer to Dan 1 article, and Dan 3 article)

West wind:

  • Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord: Deliverance and miracles (Exo 10:19)
  • Characterised also with deliverance, miracles, and breakthroughs, like the East wind
  • However, this anointing focus more towards the church setting
  • For instance, helping people breakthrough from addictions and toxic things in their life
  • To bring freedom, deliverance, and healing

Characteristics of a Prophetic word:

  1. Prophecy is always progressive
  2. Every prophetic word received is conditional
  3. Prophecy has to be pure in three areas: revelation, interpretation, and application

Prophecy is always progressive:

  • God does not give us the complete revelation all at once
  • He speaks to us part-by-part. Why?
  • Let’s look at three reasons.
  • a. So we are prepared in character, strength, and openness to what God has installed for us
  • Gen 12:1: God asked Abraham asked to three things: leave his country, his family, and house
  • But he only did one of those, which is to leave his house
  • And brought along his family, and his house
  • Gen 13:8-9, 11: Later when he finally made separation from Lot, but he also lost his inheritance
  • Gen 13:14: Only when Abraham separated himself from everything, then he saw a vision
  • b. So that we can walk by faith
  • God have Noah the exact measurement for the boat, and he took a long 100 years to build
  • Sometimes, not having the complete revelation is better
  • c. God is giving time for other people involved (in the prophecy), to cooperate
  • He works out things, to help His children work together in unity

Every Prophetic word received is conditional:

  • A prophetic word is just like a seed, and needs to be planted in good soil to bear fruit
  • Thus, it is our responsibility to ensure it comes to pass
  • Just because the Lord said it will happen, doesn’t mean it will happen, we still have to live in righteousness producing the good soil for the seed
  • David had havoc in his house instead even though peace was promised, because he committed adultery with Bathsheba
  • And even if it’s a word of judgement, we can still repent, and seek God’s forgiveness pleading for His mercy
  • Hezekiah repented when he was told he will die and not recover, and that prophecy did not come to pass, instead God added to him fifteen years

Prophecy has to be pure in three areas: revelation, interpretation, and application:

  • We often receive prophesy through filters, and we should not do that
  • When a prophetic word is revealed to us, record it down, and discuss with people around you and seek for their opinions
  • So we know we are not receiving, interpreting, or applying it through filters
