I was reading the book of Lamentations today, and this centrepiece verse caught my attention.

It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, Because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; Therefore will I hope in him.

Lam 3:22-24, KJV

Israel was undergoing a hard time as Babylons finally breached her walls: famine, cannibalism, rape, slaughter. And how we can be compassed with troubles on all sides, but never crushed because of God’s mercy and faithfulness.
