This series on supernatural healing is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended classes on this topic at church in Apr 2024.
- Three gifts of the Holy Spirit are revelatory gifts, out of the nine spiritual gifts in 1 Cor 12:4-10
- Recall from Supernatural Healing Part 1: How to Receive Healing and Deliverance article, these gifts are: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits
- All nine gifts of the Holy Spirit should be operated with the right motives
- These nine gifts are a means every Christian can be fruitful: be a blessing and edification to the church
- There are eight factors for these gifts are operated effectively
Operate gifts with right motives:
- Be submitted to godly church leadership and open to correction / instruction (Eph 5:21, 1 Pet 5:5)
- Operate in the context of God’s love (Rom 13:8, 1 Cor 13:4-8)
- Please refer to 1 Cor 13:1 article, for how our love for God and others especially our brothers and sisters in Christ prevails over these gifts
- Please refer to Prophetic Part 2: Different Levels of the Prophetic Ministry article, which parallels that these spiritual gifts should be operated in love
- Always wait to share, and learn to act in God’s strategic timing (1 Chron 12:32)
- Be accurate, do not add / subtract (Prob 30:6)
- Be a good steward of your gifts
Spiritual gifts depend on eight factors:
- Wisdom: Underlying factor of all gifts of the Holy Spirit, it governs the power and operation of the gifts
- Humility: Without humility if the heart / mind, we will never experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and won’t be used effectively to a great extent by God.
- Sensitive to Holy Spirit, and His will, His timing to release word
- Communion with the Lord, as we are operating through His will, and having a close relationship with Him too. Our gifts mature, as we draw closer to Him. It is the anointing of the Lord that develops the gifts, not our own wisdom / understanding. Isa 50:4: How Jesus operates under God’s anointing, meeting God each morning and spending time with Him.
- Desire: 1 Cor 12:31, 1 Cor 14:1, love earnestly, have immense desire, be actively praying, sometimes may have to wait
- Faith: Operate under faith, and not be afraid to step out to execute the gifts. Our only drifted is to have God’s approval in our lives. Ask God to free us from the bondage of fear, so faith would ignite the gifts in us. When we have made mistakes before, humble ourselves.
- Practice: An underlying principle in God’s word. Matt 25:29: For everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. As we exercise spiritual gifts that the Lord has given us, more would be added. Let’s stir up the gifts and use them (2 Tim 1:6).
- An atmosphere and life of worship. Speak in tongues daily. Anointed music and worship enhances the operation of the spiritual gifts and bring liberty.
Spiritual gift: Word of knowledge
- Reveals to us the past, present, future
- Pinpoints problem / need
- Can be operated in the realm of judgement
- Can be used to give general direction
- Reveals ministry needs for illness or health conditions
- An impartation from God (Acts 2:11)
- Speak the truth in love: do not condemn / criticise / judge, do not gossip about the revelation
- Depend on the Holy Spirit, and not on our human wisdom / psychology
- Instead ask the Holy Spirit to activate His gift, can be given as prophecy (Acts 21:11)
Word of knowledge manifests in the following ways:
- Physical: You get their pain
- Emotional: You have their feelings or able to sense their situation
- Mind: You see words, sentences, mental pictures, Bible verses
- Spirit: You sense a flow which you cannot quench
- Smell: You get an invasion of fragrance or foul smell
- E.g; Elisha had a word of knowledge of Gehazi’s intentions / motives
- Elisha even knew Syria’s king war plan, discussed in his bedroom
Word of wisdom:
- Word of knowledge reveals facts, but word of wisdom reveals solutions or answers
- Solomon operated in word of wisdom (1 Kings 3:16-28)
- Gives guidance to individual
- a. David sought the the Lord each time he went to battle, and the Lord’s battle plan was different each time
- b. Lord Jesus also healed differently, for each situation. He healed according to their inner condition. Please refer to Supernatural Healing Part 1: How to Receive Healing and Deliverance article, for inner healing.
- Word of wisdom vs Spirit of wisdom:
- a. Word of wisdom is imparted as need arises
- b. Spirit of wisdom is an abiding anointing of wisdom (Isa 11:2, Eph 1:17)
Word of wisdom manifests in these ways:
- Prophecy
- Mental impression, pictures, thoughts
- Visions, dreams (Dan 2:19, Matt 2:12)
- Please refer to Dan 1 article, for Daniel’s ability to interpret visions and dreams given by God
- Visitation of an angel (Acts 27)
Discerning of spirits:
- Recognise and distinguish influence of God, Satan, the world, and our flesh in various situations (1 Cor 12:10, Acts 16:16-18)
- The church needs those with this gift to:
- a. Warn believers in times of danger
- b. Protect the church from false teaching
- c. Bring clarity regarding God’s strategies
- d. Reveal false manifestations
Four keys to hearing God’s voice (Hab 2:1-2):
- Stop
- Look
- Listen
- Write
Stop:
- Still our mind (Psa 46:10)
- Be silent before God, ready to listen to Him
- Not necessarily emptying our mind, but wait on the Lord
- We can also meditate upon Bible verses to help us
Look:
- Look for a vision as you pray
- Come expecting to receive from God
- Come seeing with the eyes of our heart (Eph 1:17-18)
- Abraham looked and believed (Gen 15:5-6)
- He had faith after seeing
Listen
- Receive spontaneous thoughts from God
- Recognise God speaking through: visions, feelings, and impressions
- Not necessarily an audible voice
- Spontaneous thoughts come as first thoughts, first impressions (characteristic mark of Him speaking)
- How to discern whose voice is speaking:
- a. Positive spontaneous thoughts are from God
- b. Negative spontaneous thoughts are from the enemy
- c. Analytical thoughts are our own
Characteristics of God’s spontaneous thoughts:
- Appear as God speaking in first person
- Comes and goes fast
- Gentle
- May have unexpected content, tend to be loving, and purpose-oriented, as compared to our thoughts
- Will cause a special reaction within us: a sense of excitement, connection, faith, life, and peace
- Your spiritual senses are trained as time goes on, soon it becomes easier to hear God
- God is actually speaking all the time, and sometimes we can’t hear because of anxiety, fear, sadness, grief, loss, confusion, disappointment
Write:
- Journal it down
- 2-way journaling, be mindful and honour God when he speaks
- Enhances our intimacy with Him
Practical tips for conducting the healing / deliverance ministry:
- A word of knowledge created faith in you and others, and there is a divine enablement / grace for people to believe
- Word of knowledge may be given at any place, for whom God wants to heal
- We operate in the word of knowledge / word of wisdom, God reveals to us
- Once we receive word of knowledge, we can ask those in the congregation / group / individual with the condition to stand, and then pray for them
- Ask them on a scale from 1-10 how they feel before, and after praying for them
- Healing often manifest itself in heat, electricity, and tinkling sensations they might feel flowing through their bodies
