Supernatural Healing Part 3: Healing Ministry Model and Practical Guidelines

Supernatural Healing Part 3: Healing Ministry Model and Practical Guidelines

This series on supernatural healing is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended classes on this topic at church in Apr 2024.

Simple 3-step model:

  1. Interview
  2. Prayer selection
  3. Ministry time

Interview:

  1. Situational – Introduction
  2. Posture – Love, connecting
  3. Ask – Condition, needs

Situational – Introduction:

  • Introduce yourself, let them know you are here to pray for them
  • We need to show love / care, above our anointing and prayer for them
  • Please refer to 1 Cor 13:1 article, for how our love for God and others especially our brothers and sisters in Christ prevails over these gifts
  • Please refer to Supernatural Healing Part 2: Revelatory Gifts of the Holy Spirit article, for a recap how these spiritual gifts should be operated in love
  • We also get the person to introduce themselves
  • Don’t jump in to pray immediately, but first allow them to feel loved and cared for

Posture – Love, connecting:

  • We make effort to connect with the person
  • We can’t guarantee every person is healed, because we are not the healer
  • But we can guarantee they feel loved, and they meet the healer: Jesus
  • We should also honour and respect them, by asking them how they would like us to pray for them, what they want Jesus to do for them, and whether we can pray for them
  • Because people are made in God’s image, and when we honour them, we honour God
  • We show dignity to the person regardless of their condition, even demonic manifestations show, we must show love to them

Ask – Condition, needs:

  • Ask them to describe their medical condition
  • Ask them how long they had the condition, and anything unusual when they had the condition
  • Listen is also important to the person, and the Holy Spirit
  • Because some people need not just physical healing, but need emotional healing (e.g; from trauma), and freedom ministry as underlying for instance
  • Please refer to Supernatural Healing Part 1: How to Receive Healing and Deliverance article, for a recap in inner healing and finding out the root / underlying cause of a sickness

Prayer selection:

  1. Prayer of supplication
  2. Prayer of command
  3. Pastoral prayer

Prayer of supplication:

  • To ask in earnest: to plead and beg
  • We commonly use this type of prayer
  • God knows everything, even the number of hairs on our head (Luke 12:7)
  • God’s will is to heal: the healing work has been completed at Calvary, so that we can be restored to His image and likeness
  • Please refer to Supernatural Healing Part 1: How to Receive Healing and Deliverance article
  • This is a great type of prayer to use to encourage the person you are ministering to: especially in difficult circumstances they might be facing

Prayer of command:

  • Addressing physical conditions / physical healing
  • Exercising the authority and empowerment that God has given to us: to lay hands on the sick to heal them (Mark 16:18)
  • Command by speaking to the condition to be healed in Jesus’ name
  • Command by speaking to call forth life or growth or repairing of a body part, muscle, spine alignment, etc

Pastoral prayer:

  • Often used to encourage a person in the Lord, strengthen the person’s faith in God
  • Deals with the inner person: the soul and spirit
  • Praying words of encouragement: reminders of God’s love / His faithfulness towards the him / her
  • Please refer to Prophetic Part 5: Learning to be Led by the Holy Spirit article, for what our souls comprises of and our spirit

Ministry time:

  1. Holy Spirit’s presence
  2. What should the recipient do
  3. Decide on the type of prayer
  4. Re-interview
  5. Close
  6. When to stop
  7. Practical advise
  8. Instructions to walk in the healing ministry

Holy Spirit’s presence:

  • Invite the Holy Spirit, as though inviting a person
  • The Holy Spirit is God, and we treat Him with honour and reverence

What should the recipient do:

  • Tell them to relax, and just receive healing from God
  • Close their eyes, and focus on God

Decide on the type of prayer:

  • Pastoral healing is for those with more complex cases, for example those who need emotional healing / freedom ministry, and others
  • Simper cases, we can go straight to the prayer of command

Re-interview:

  • Ask them again their condition
  • And any other conditions, they might still need healing
  • Not every sickness is linked, and as a result of a person’s sinful lifestyle

Close:

  • Close in prayer

When to stop:

  • When the person has to leave, due to various circumstances
  • Teach them and their family members how to pray
  • If in a conference setting where many may be queuing for healing, make sure everyone gets prayed for so they feel God’s love

Practical advise:

  • Don’t give medical advise, as we are not doctors
  • Ask the person to get checked, if the condition is present, so that God is glorified if there is healing

Instructions to walk in the healing ministry:

  • Encourage them to meditate on God’s word, and worship
  • And have a closer relationship with God
  • Don’t condemn them, but encourage
  • Pray a prayer of cleaning for yourself too, after the healing session: that the Holy Spirit fills us with His thoughts, His love, and His ways
  • Having some Scriptures handy, can be useful
  • There is tremendous power released from reading, praying, and meditating on the Word of God
  • God is a good father, and He gives good gifts to His children, which includes healing (John 10:10-11)
