Intercessory Prayers Pre-Session: Double Anointing

Intercessory Prayers Pre-Session: Double Anointing

This series on intercessory prayers is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended a church conference on this topic in Aug 2024.

Introduction:

  • Rev 5:10: We are given a double anointing of being both: kings and priests
  • Double anointing is something, God gives to every born-again

God’s original plan:

  • God’s original plan was for everyone to come face-to-face with Him, as a priest
  • We see that, when God brought them out of Egypt (Exo 19:5-6)
  • Priesthood (prayer): People coming to the presence of God
  • But since Plan A didn’t work, God moved to Plan B: Aaronnic priests representing people, in intercession and personal contact with God hearing from Him
  • Prayer is intercession, intimacy with God
  • Kingship is the outflow, of what happens in the prayer room

Restoration of God’s original plan:

  • But in the New Testament: Jesus came, died, rose, and we are back at the original plan of God (1 Pet 2:9-12)
  • In addition, God added kingship as well, this enables us to flow with signs, anointing, preaching, crusades (please refer to Prophetic Part 5: Learning to be Led by the Holy Spirit article)
  • Joel 2:15-17: Everybody is called old and young, rich and poor, not just a selected group, to come before the Lord (please refer to Joel 2:31 article)
  • v17: Weep (Hebrew: Bakah): Has 2 opposing meanings
  • One side: Strong prayer, decree warfare
  • Other side: Cry, weep, silence
  • When we flow in the Holy Spirit with prayer, we will be led in either direction (of weeping)

Porch and the Altar:

  • Joel 2:17: Weep between the porch and the altar
  • Firstly, God answers not whether we are rich or poor, smart or not, but He looks at our heart
  • The altar is a place and position of prayer and worship, where we hear God (Luke 1:8-21)
  • Zechariah received a promise at the altar, and came out of the temple dumb, unable to speak
  • And the porch is the place of outflow, where power, signs and miracles happen

Areas impacted when we spend more time praying at altar:

  1. Worshipper
  2. Humility
  3. Brokenness
  4. Proclaiming God’s word
  5. Authority

Worshipper:

  • John 4:23-24: Worship is not necessarily singing, but the expression of your Spirit
  • Let’s give ourselves more at the prayer place, don’t have to be for hours, just 3-5 mins of undivided attention to God is also good for a start
  • Like how Jesus went to a quiet place every morning to pray

Humility:

  • We know we are weak, before God, let’s demolish our pride, and seek God’s help in prayer (2 Chron 7:14, James 4:6-7)
  • But His mercies and grace, are new every morning

Brokenness:

  • Psa 51:17: We can give ourselves to God, and He can move our heart, because we are flexible
  • For instance, if He wants us to pray for this country or something else, we flow with the Holy Spirit
  • And we let God shape our prayer list, however He wants

Proclaiming God’s word:

  • Not just reading God’s word, but praying and working with it, God uses word we say to action on things (John 15:7-9, Isa 57:19)
  • That His word will never come back empty / void (Isa 55:11)

Authority:

  • Does not mean speaking loudly, for instance screaming: “Jesus please heal him / her!”
  • Someone with authority can just speak one word, and everything change
  • God has given us authority to resist / trample on the devil, it’s something we have to do on our own (James 4:7, Luke 10:19)
  • This is based on the power of God’s word, His blood in us

Conclusion:

  • A kingly anointing (porch) is the outflow of the priestly anointing (altar / prayers)
  • Speaker spends more time praying, than on pulpit, and makes no negotiation / procrastination when it comes to prayer
  • And this results in her powerful healing ministries, which is the outflow of many hours of praying early in the morning
  • Prayer can move mountains, but combined prayer moves nations
  • We have the greatest intercessors: Holy Spirit, inside of us
  • He will teach us how to pray
