Intercessory Prayers Session 6: The Heavenly Courtroom

Intercessory Prayers Session 6: The Heavenly Courtroom

This series on intercessory prayers is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended a church conference on this topic in Aug 2024.

Introduction:

  • Recall from Intercessory Prayers Session 4: God’s Creative Power in Prayers article, that we as believers are already seated in the heavenly places
  • And we’re called to participate in the heavenly prayer meeting
  • Worship to God, can be loud, singing, and also absolutely quiet
  • God takes our prayers in the secret inner room, and rewards us in the open
  • Also recall how God has restored the connection from heaven speaking to earth things which are not into things that are, through Abraham, David, Jesus, and us
  • And we become a channel for God to work through us, so let’s start praying the heart of God (most of the time it’s about the future)
  • John 16:13-14: He will tell us of things to come, what He hears from the Father / Jesus praying to the Father

Jesus our advocate:

  • Prayer is walking into a courtroom, as we come to pray specifically for certain things, like nations, churches, our finances
  • Dan 7:9: Ancient of Days seated, in courtroom setting
  • Rev 12:10: Satan is standing at the Throne of God accusing us, but Jesus is our advocate / high priest at the Father’s right hand
  • Holy Spirit is also there as our counsellor / advocate
  • Heb 10:19-23: God has prepared everything for us in the courtroom, we just need to come with boldness, as we already got the blood of the Lamb
  • Satan tries to keep us under condemnation
  • Col 2:14-15: Sometimes we allow these accusations, when we put something on the altar to God, and then take it back
  • And the devil brings accusations against us our failures
  • Jesus advocates for us, by the blood of Jesus, when we are week, He is strong
  • We can never be perfect, that’s why we have a perfect Saviour
  • And the Holy Spirit takes our imperfect prayer, before the Father

Presenting our case in the heavenly courtroom:

  • Learn to present our case, without constant condemnation
  • If the devil can get us be accused / or believe that we are, then he has won
  • So we don’t come before the court, with our own perfections, but with Jesus blood
  • When we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses (and not our strengths)
  • Almost every person in the Bible prayed / plead God on a situation, based on His very own attributes they knew Him as
  • Abraham knew His God, in the attribute of righteousness, which is what He brought before God (Gen 18:25)
  • When we present our case before God, don’t tell Him about the problem because he already knows, but tell Him who we know Him as
  • Speaker knows God as the healer, from her background and past experiences / breakthroughs
  • In our intercession, let God use us in the way we know Him
  • Moses never allowed his anger to affect his intercession (Num 16)
  • And true intercession does not pray according to our emotions
  • We have to stand before God, with a humble heart
  • If you don’t know what to pray, remember that we are partners in the heavenly calling, intercession (Heb 3:1)
  • And we are already seated in heavenly places, our identity is royal priesthood

Conclusion:

  • Let’s not try to impress people, with our spirituality
  • Most of the things we pray, others don’t have to know
  • Holy Spirit wants to reveal to us the secrets of the Father’s heart, so we join Him to pray, and not blast it to everyone, else how would He be able to trust us
