This series on intercessory prayers is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended a church conference on this topic in Aug 2024.
Introduction:
- Recall from Intercessory Prayers Session 6: The Heavenly Courtroom article, how we can pray according to God’s attributes
- Write down one attribute you know God as, for example, healer, deliverer, goodness, mercy, grace compassion, righteousness
- And in that area, you would have most faith to pray
- Because we will only pray, according to how we know / experience God as
Bible examples:
- Abraham friend of God, pleaded with Him, will You destroy the righteous with the wicked
- Abraham knew God as judge of heaven and earth
- God was very frustrated that the people had rebelled many times against Him
- Moses was even more frustrated, but he did not bring up their sin, but brought God’s attribute
- Moses reminded God about His promise / destiny of Israel, promised to Abraham (Exo 32:13)
- He knew God as a covenantal God
- Moses held the destiny of the people before God
- And similar when we don’t know how to pray anymore about something, and have hit the ceiling, we can bring the destiny of the people / land / thing God has for them, before Him
- Moses prayed the characters / attributes of God (Num 14:18)
- God then replied in Num 14:20, that every time he prays, He listened
- Same thing when Daniel prayed, You are a God of covenant (His character), and held it before Him
- In NT, we observe the same pattern (Acts 4)
- The disciples were persecuted, beaten, but they did not pray the problem, because they have learned how to pray the character of God
- Acts 4:24-27: They prayed to God as their creator
- Attribute is who God is, not the outflow, for example, revival, miracles
Conclusion:
- If we pray in the attribute of God we have faith, because we have ourselves experienced it
- Let’s pray for a revival into our countries, the attributes of God
