This series on intercessory prayers is based off my handwritten notes, which I took as I attended a church conference on this topic in Aug 2024.
Introduction:
- There’s no such thing as a right / wrong prayer, but prayer comes from our hearts to God
- As long as our heart is sincere before God, the Holy Spirit will take it and present it before the Father
- The moment we start praying, we are face-to-face with God
- It’s like how Adam / Even fellowshipped in the Garden of Eden, face-to-face with God
- We don’t need the right atmosphere to come into His presence, because He is already the atmosphere, and we are face-to-face with Him
- When we come to pray, the most important thing is bringing the burden on our hearts before God, we are not trying to convince God
Holy Spirit taking our prayers before the Father:
- Gen 1:1-2: Spirit of God was hovering over the water, and He was ‘pregnant’ with light, moon, stars, and carries all of creation in Him
- But not a thing could move without a word from the Father
- He was not allowed to do His own thing during creation, but wait till the Father speak
- Let there be light, and He launches into His creative Spirit, to create light
- When we are interceding for nations, we cannot go by opinions, but have to use the word to pray over them
- Gen 1:3: The same Holy Spirit of creation (a creative Spirit), was also the same Spirit experienced at Pentecost
- Heb 11:3: All things were made by the word of God
- In the Garden of Eden, Lucifer came and steal from Adam not just life, but his connection with heaven
- He destroyed Adam’s ability to speak life, prior he acted, moved, spoke like God
- Except Adam was Spirit in body, and while God was Spirit
- Satan wanted to break it, because life would then be spoken over earth (as it is in heaven, let it be done on earth)
- Adam thus became dead now, and God needed somebody again to speak life
- God then found a man: Abraham (father of faith), whom He made a covenant with
- He found someone who would call into existence, that which is not what it is
- Abraham made himself available to call things that were not before present, into existence
- And now God could use him to speak words, speaking onto earth His plans
- And then we have the prophets who started speaking, Isaiah spoke that a virgin shall have a Son
- David (Psa 22), prophesied what the crucifixion of Jesus would be like
- And the Holy Spirit could once again, take those words and with His creative power create it, again and again, until Jesus was born
- Holy Spirit is a life, creative Spirit, that searched the deep things of the Father / our hearts, and it will be taking and create in the Spirit realm, speaking things into existence, and in God’s time it would happen
- When we thus understand our life-speaking abilities, then we are a channel / vehicle for the Holy Spirit which in-feels in us, and prompts us to pray for certain things, so He can take that something before the Father and then create it
- Isa 57:19: I (God) create the fruit of the lips (creative power)
- Thus God is not limited by distance, we in Singapore can be praying and blessing America, where God can then take our words to bless the nation
How would I know what to pray / proclaim:
- God gave Abraham a very clear word, that he will have a son, and out of him will come forth generations
- Isa 55:11: If sometimes we don’t know the heart of the Father, whenever we come into sincerity with God, He helps us
- Trinity is one: If we pray to the Son, the Father hears us
- Jesus is at the right-hand of the Father, interceding for us all the time (constant communication happening)
- Rom 8:34: We see Jesus interceding for us by name all the time
- We got the most powerful intercessors, constantly interceding for us all the time
- Heb 3:1: Consider our high priest, Jesus
- Rom 8:26-27: There’s a second intercessor, the Holy Spirit is also praying for us / helping us to pray
- Holy Spirit is always with us, whether we are sad, happy, shopping, He is there all the time
- Holy Spirit is the same in His power, and always at His highest power, and full capacity inside of us
- Sometimes if we don’t feel it, we have to make more room for the Holy Spirit
- And learn to be more sensitive, and work with the Holy Spirit
- There is hence a 24/7 line: You -> Holy Spirit -> Jesus -> Father
- Line is broken, if we wilfully sin, but if we truly repent, the line is restored
- John 16: Holy Spirit is not allowed just to act on His own, but as Jesus is praying for us by name all the time, He ‘evesdrop’ what Jesus has prayed to the Father
- All prayer starts in the heart of the Father
- And the Holy Spirt searches deep thing of the Father’s heart
- And He conveys it to us
- So when we feel prompted by the Holy Spirit to start praying for something, Father / Jesus have long already prayed
- Holy Spirit may give us a specific scripture as a prompt / answer to pray
- And when we have heard a ‘rhema’ word like that, this is what happens at the throne room, Jesus was praying that word, and the Holy Spirit was hearing what he prayed
- And the Holy Spirit, will then come and tell us prophetic things of the future
- And then we have to pray that ‘rhema’ word, so the Holy Spirit can take those words and create it
- Sometimes God says, when are you going to call into existence what I gave you already
- But God in His amazing way, has decided to work through weak channels like us, just like how He worked through Abraham, calling those things that are not as though they are (and this is faith, as in Hebrews)
- Faith is not just doing great miracles, but calling those things which are not, as though they are
- Thus, when we immediately start praying the word given to us from the Father, and decreeing it, we come in-line with the heavenly prayer meeting, though it may come at a time we didn’t expect
- We have to decree / proclaim the ‘rhema’ word, so God can create it
- Every prayer is like a seed, that God can make a lot with
- If we don’t have a ‘rhema’ word, then we can use the general ‘logos’ word
- Sometimes, we may find how God can use us to pray Scriptures we don’t even understand why, but He only needs our lips to create something, thus we are like a vehicle
Seated in heavenly places:
- Jesus is also our high priest at the right-hand of the Father, interceding for us
- The Holy Spirit is praying all the time too
- And God says, let’s get the royal priesthood (us), to pray as well
- You are already seated in the heavenly places, come and present your case
- We are already joined in the heavenly prayer meeting
- We don’t need to convince God, when we come to present our case, as we are face-to-face with Christ covered by His blood and seated in heavenly places
- Thus we don’t need the right atmosphere of singing 10 songs for example, because we are already in heavenly places
