Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 14

Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 14

This series on intercessors training for Singapore is based off my written notes, which I took as I attended a church conference on this topic in Feb 2025.

Speaker: Ps John Mulinde

We really appreciate our two speakers travelling a far distance from Uganda and New York to come here.

It’s not only the burden, but the ploughing, because they see the purposes of God for SG.

I think they see the purposes from SG more than we do, because they see SG from up here.

And we see SG from the ground only.

In mid-Feb, I was doing training with our people for the last 2 weeks.

When I was coming here, they asked, because I was doing training in the physical and recorded messages.

So they asked if do you have enough recording?

So I said no, then they asked what are you going to leave behind.

And I said to them look, if you keep putting new information, at some point they would not be able to digest.

So I said take the teachings for last 2 weeks, and go sit in small groups of 4-5 people, and discuss implementation how does it look like.

Because if you don’t do that, it begins to evaporate.

So I want to say to you, these five days morning and evening is a lot.

If you think you are going to remember it naturally it is impossible.

You have to go back and digest and internalise what you have learnt.

And I encourage you to do that.

2 Cor 5:14-21: For the love of Christ compels us, that if one died for all, then all die. And if he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, that those who live should live for them. Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, and all  things have become new. Now God is giving us reconciliation to us, and given us the word of reconciliation, not imputing trespass. Now we are ambassadors of Christ, for he made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might be the righteousness of Him.

Long time ago, those very early days, when the Lord spoke to us about his calling and mission for our lives.

On one side, we were full of excitement, knowing that God has a calling and mission for us.

On the other hand, we had apprehension, it looked too big and hard.

We asked how are we going to do this.

So one day, I mustered courage and asked the Lord, for 2000 years the church has been pushing to do this, and it is not even done.

Now you want us to believe you want us to get it done, in some way.

Lord there is only one way, I can believe that, give me an unbelievable number of miracles.

That the miracles would convince people to believe.

And in my heart I was convinced this was the way.

And the Lord said there’s no greater miracle than myself, the people don’t believe miracle after miracle (Matt 13:58).

If you think people believe after seeing miracles, you will be mistaken.

The people of Israel seen so many miracles, but see how they responded to Moses.

Jesus himself came in the power of miracles, but the Jews arrested him to be killed.

Yes miracles can do something to bring more to Christ, but it does not overcome the human self will.

Then the Lord said to me, I will give you something better.

What God has seen better, we might not agree with him.

I believe this morning we had opportunity to model the altar and presence of God.

Please refer to Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 13 article.

Some things are not taught like abcd, we need the faith and persistence to learn such subjects.

Faith comes by hearing, the word of God.

So don’t be ashamed to tell people about what Jesus has done on the cross.

And then practice it, create the environment and allow you soul to venture into it.

Do it by faith, if something doesn’t work out, don’t fear.

Discuss it, talk about it, then try again.

Don’t depend on your human feeling, trust in the faith of Christ towards you.

If Christ believes you can, then you can.

So that’s the other side of the coin, which I want to share.

This is not so much like the practicing and modelling.

This one is faith, and living what you confess.

And telling your heart everyday, the word of God is true, beyond my imagination.

So what did the Lord show me?

I saw a boxing ring, there was a platform with rocks around.

So 2 athletes come in the ring, and fight it out, and sometimes fall out, but able bounce back because the rock.

God said I will give you three principles to bounce back even if the enemy hit you.

What I’m giving you is more effective, then what you are asking for.

My thoughts are not you thoughts, your ways are not my ways.

The things I’m going to be talking about, may not be the easiest to receive, and they may feel limiting to us.

But if you go back and listen to them again and again, and check them out in the word of God, the time will come where something will click home.

The Lord gave me three principles of life, which helps us to protect our lives.

The Bible says, he who gives up his life, will have eternal life.

The Bible says die to ourselves, but self is so hard to give up, and feels so precious.

But the Bible says, we can kill self and continue living.

What is self exactly?

When God created man, he created him after his image.

Man is created in the triune, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

So within man are the soul, body, and spirit.

Most would agree most of man is found in soul, where our interact, reasoning, way of looking at things, our emotions.

Lastly, that’s where we find the will, the power to choose and decide.

But when God created man, the most important part was not the soul, but the spirit.

Some people say man is a spirit living in the body? Amen

And when you are going to win people to the kingdom, do you go spirit winning or soul winning.

The Bible says we are to go for spirit winning.

Because when people die, and that mysterious life leaves the body, what will stand before the Judge? The spirit.

Some believe the true humanity is found in the soul.

But the spirit is giving to man as a temple where God can abide.

It can receive God’s presence.

And when the breadth of life was breathed into man, he became a living being.

But the real power is in the spirit, that is here they would receive guidance from God, and spiritual impartation.

And the body is a medium to interact with God.

And personally I believe the Lord said to Adam the day you eat the fruit you shall surely die, was not talking about his body, but the life that was breathed into him, making him into a likeness of God.

And the day he ate the fruit, the spirit was quenched.

Was he still alive? Yes

But his spirit, was quenched, so that was the drought man experience after the sin, and live like that.

When the Holy Spirit would come, it came upon them, but not into them.

Because the sanctuary was closed, until Jesus went to the cross and went to his disciples again.

And he did what his father did.

He breathed his spirit and say take heed, allowing them to come back to life again, saying receiving my spirit.

We know each of the three natures of man need to be fed.

The body loves to be fed, there are three things we can feed it.

One the most demanding, is food, drink.

So that is why you deny yourself in the act of fasting, everything in you begin to submit and say what do you want.

Man can lack nourishment in other areas, but the moment you stop food, it’s tough.

The second thing is human dignity, respect, honour.

And that can be given in good portion, which cause self-value.

Or can be given in excess that causes pride, arrogance, entitlement, and selfishness.

And the third, is indulgence, and that can be sexual indulgence, things like gossip, entertainment that tickes the human nature.

In good portion, it is good and wonderful, in excesses it is destructive.

So when God tells us to control the flesh, and kill the flesh.

It is to the deny the flesh what feeds it.

All of us understand, denying ourselves food is a way to grow your spirit.

As you fast you also deny yourself other things like carnal things we put then aside, and anything that serves our ego.

When we do that, we weaken our flesh.

But then the soul also feeds, and what feeds it is knowledge.

The more you give knowledge to the soul, the more puffed up it becomes, and the harder it becomes to change it.

People who have ingested a lot of knowledge, are difficult to correct, advise, and they know it all.

Then the spirit is also able to feed, what feeds it is the word of God.

So if you don’t feed on the word of God, your spirit man becomes weak and thin.

So you can see this triune man in us, like the trinity in the God-head.

When you sense you lack in one of these areas, you know how to feed it.

Now natural man in his normal nature, is basically operating from two platforms; the soul and the flesh.

Because the spirit died when man sinned.

And God in Genesis, at Eden, puts out and closes the garden of Eden.

Many scholars have believed that was also the closing of the spirit.

So the enemy would not come into his spirit and take full control of him.

So for many years, man has lived as though he depended on these two fields, the soul and the body.

And the soul has got its own versions of wisdom, the intellect, emotions, and will.

And the only partnership the soul has is the flesh.

And the flesh is the only medium man has to interact with the world.

So the influences around today, have been worldly.

So what feels natural is the worldly, and selfish and all those pertains to these two fields.

When we talk about the natural, we are talking about these two things.

Actually what the body calls the flesh, is the combination of the body and soul, it’s the carnal nature, it’s the human nature.

And when we come to Jesus, we are being asked, deny that, and live a life following Christ after that, by the Holy Spirit.

Not that everything is bad, but in our natural setting today, everything is exaggerated.

So as we deny the body and soul, we allow the spirit to grow muscles, and take over our lives.

So in Corinthians, we see the love of Christ compels us, because we judge like this.

That if one died for all, then all died.

And if one should live for all, then all should live again.

Imagine all of us are guilty of one crime, and the punishment is death.

Then someone comes and say I will die for you, but he says give me your identity.

In your records, you would be recorded as dead.

When Jesus was dying for us, he gave his life literally for us.

But we are still here not dead, so how are we going live life?

But he rose again, and thus he gave us his identity, so that it’s him living through us.

So life principle one: my life is not my own, it belongs to him who rose again that I may have eternal life.

I have no rights to this life, no opinions, no say.

Now Jesus has 100% say over my life, I belong to him, I don’t even have an opinion, his thoughts are my thoughts, his position are my position.

He who has seen me, has seen him.

Isn’t the position Jesus had with his father, I do nothing without my father, believe the works I do because of my father.

How many can truly say, this is the reflection of my Christ life?

Jesus life was a reflection of the father, he says I came not to do my own will, but the one who sent me.

Everything he did was the reflection of the father.

But he said to me, I know you think you are living like a normal Christ life.

But you are still living in your old ways, satisfying your flesh.

Christ says live for me, that you may have eternal life.

Think about that shouldn’t that be how we live? Yet often we don’t live like that.

One time I had a colleague, who had her fiance, found him in a bad situation with another woman.

So she lost it, lodged a false police case to raid their house.

She was so furious that she came to me, and said Pastor I’m going to kill him.

And I let her vent her anger sometime.

Then I asked, does your life still belong to you, or it belongs to God.

Because if it’s given to God, it’s not how you should react in the way you should be return.

And she said Pastor I don’t want you to say such things, I have to go, and she was so furious.

In the moment she was acting 100% in her flesh, and we had to pray and fast for her.

Yet in her normal circumstances, she was a very good Christian.

But no matter how good Christian we are, if we are still having that identity, something may trigger us.

Life is full of triggers, and challenges, so we can be provoked.

But if have this new life of Christ in us, that we have given to Christ, that we may live eternally.

Surrender it to the Lord, maybe even the most painful.

Why? Because you feel you want to do something to hit back.

But that is the human nature, it is self-centered, it is not natural to surrender it, the natural is to hit back.

And when you go to prayer, you will feel the urge to surrender.

And when you go to the altar it’s not only about sins, but surrendering our lives to Jesus.

I remember I was still going through this process, God said give me your life.

I was a pastor had already opened many churches.

And Lord I have already given you my life.

But God said, give me your life.

He said give me your name, whatever people say about it whether true or not true, I will fight for it.

And I thought ok, amen Lord.

And he begin to challenge me, what if you came to situation like this.

He is giving me lives and names of people who gone into disrepute.

So I said no, then he said you still want to retain it, as long you do that, the enemy still wants to destroy that, how do I do that.

Jesus said look at my name, it’s been blasphemed, but it will stand.

So I said ok Lord.

Now I may not have gone as far as what I wanted to go.

But you have come to a surrender, beyond what you have imagined.

So you can say yes Lord, even though he brings you through a season of shame and misunderstanding.

When your name is in the Lord, its glory will stand in his name.

Now this is something you do, like running harder to achieve.

But it’s a foundational principle of life

And everyday you run to the altar and worship, a moment comes and you return to a place of surrender.

Saying again, my life is not my own, thank you for laying down your life for me.

You who knew no sin, but you sacrificed for me, even the world may not know what you have done.

So I take up my cross and follow you, strengthen me.

You know how fail and feeble I’m, but I have already made up my mind.

The level of intimacy there at the altar, is not a sweet feeling, or feeling good.

But about life and death, and committing ourselves to him.

So that’s why people come to me saying how did you do that, what kind of faith you have?

And I said thank you Lord.

In Uganda, we call these three things, the foundational stones of consecration.

That will uphold you even when you are at your weakness.

And also at the altar, when you feel anger, it loses its power when you have given him your life.

After all what is it, all things shall pass away, it makes every other surrender seem minute.

I know you may not even understand what I’m talking about, but you have the recordings, go listen it again and again.

And one day the bulb will blink, and you know that you know you can do it.
