Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 4

Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 4

This series on intercessors training for Singapore is based off my written notes, which I took as I attended a church conference on this topic in Feb 2025.

Speaker: Ps Shayne Payne

As a young Christian I used to look at the giants and marvel at their interaction with God.

I used to think my mom knows God.

And over the years I heard some people, that talk as though they had some insight or knowledge.

When they talk about God’s pain, you feel pain, even tears will come down your eyes.

Do you know anyone like this?

If you don’t, then try to connect with someone like this.

God will be as real to Him as I allow him to be.

So who gets to decide the level of intimacy with God.

He said to you, you are my tabernacle, I desire to come and make my home in you (John 14).

If you love me, you will obey me, and me and my father will love you, and we will come and make our abode in you.

How close does he want to get to you?

In same scripture John 14, he promised the Holy Spirit will come and manifest himself to you.

Then he say he and his father will come and make their abode with you.

So he’s saying, if you love me, you will obey me, and if you do that my spirit will come to you, and reveal all things.

I don’t want to be left out Jesus is saying, while the Holy Spirit is doing His work in you, He wants to come too.

His Father also doesn’t want to be left out, and we will come to make our home with you.

You are our temple, and dwelling place.

How close do you want him to come?

He wants to be one with you, but you have to want to be one with him.

You have to love him enough.

I was sharing to you about the pain of God’s heart.

I was an assignment in Kenya, and we were at the conference.

Ps James was at the conference too and preaching, and the spirit of God rested on him.

And he said some of you here the Lord is saying there is sin among you, and if you come here and confess he will forgive you.

But none of them came forward, all were pastors.

Then he listed specific sins, like sexual immorality, and many others.

And he would wait after he list one sin, for people to come.

And after he listed the last sin, he put the microphone down, said Ps Shyane come and close the conference.

How would you respond?

So I was watching this and didn’t know what was happening, but I knew he was derailed from his sermon.

So it was something he was doing that he didn’t share with me.

But when I picked up the microphone, it was like electricity, and I felt the pain of God’s heart.

For long I have been calling them to repent but they won’t, some of them will not make it home safely.

In this situation, what would you do, how would you pray?

Listen to what He said again, I have called them for long to repent but they refused, some of them will not make it home safe.

And he said it with pain.

Look me I was not among them, I was not sinning.

He had given them what I understood to be their last chance, and now he is ready to pour out.

You know Moses stood before God, and he was boiling.

And Moses said to God, Lord repent of your great anger, why are you angry.

I didn’t do that, I fell on my face and started crying, Lord please you are merciful, you said your are long suffering, and compassionate, would you have mercy.

While I’m praying like this, my eyes are closed and face on the floor.

But I could see he was in the air, and his arms was folded, I don’t know if he was an angel.

My eyes was close, and he was standing in front of me, and I was pleading for mercy.

I had some difficult prayer times in my life, and that was one of the most painful.

Because I knew if I didn’t break through, they would fail and God would pour out His anger, as that was their last chance.

Then God left, so what does that mean.

So I knew I had failed in my prayer, and I did not touch His heart.

I knew 3am was my morning prayer time, and I would come here to pray when nobody was here.

All the pastors were there watching when is he going to finish, though some intercessors joined me.

That morning I got up to pray, and I begin to ask would you not forgive them.

Beloved he was there in the room with me.

Lord you told me I could ask you, and you would hear me, you are merciful, slow to anger, would you have mercy.

And beloved He was there for awhile listening, and after awhile he turned and walked away.

I got desperate and asked Lord what would it take for you to forgive them, I know there is a way somehow.

And He stopped, saying are you willing to love them enough to lay down your life for them.

And of course, I think he knew I didn’t understand that language, lay down my life.

He said like my servant Moses, who stood before me and said if you would not forgive them, blot me out of your book.

Like my servant Paul, who said I wished I myself would become accursed if Israel won’t be saved.

Dr John was talking in earlier sessions Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 1 article, of identifying with them, taking on their sins, like Jesus identified with us, and became sin.

He was asking me to do the same, take a place with them.

And I could not receive that language, at that time.

I’m praying and pouring out my heart, but I got to a place where I thought I couldn’t go pass this.

Love them enough? They are wicked anyway, deserving judgment, I want to go home.

I thought of my comfort of my life in New York city, my wife is going to be a widow, my children is going to be fatherless.

For this people, I want to go home.

And he left, although I didn’t say I want to go home.

But he read my mind, and the conversation was continuing even when I wasn’t talking, and he left.

I have not been back since to that place, or even hear about what happened.

Because I knew God was asking something of me, but I was not willing.

Was I able? Perhaps.

All I heard was lay down your life, and I haven’t heard such preaching.

And because of that, he quoted 3 examples for me, 2 from scripture and 1 real-life.

I felt God’s pain for these people, and I took up the role to intercede, but I refused to step across the line.

So when God is saying I look for a man among them, but I went and saw the price, and I said no.

I failed miserably at that event.

When I got back home to New York, now I’m safe no need to lay down my life.

They are thousands of miles away now.

Then I go to God, Lord what exactly were you asking of me back then.

And what he said to me is this, that chapter has been closed, and we would no longer talk about that.

And he said I’m not looking for a preacher, but someone who would stand on behalf of them.

I was talking to John Mulinde some time ago, I love him, he’s a strange man.

So I told him, and he asked do you know what that means.

He said that day when you stand before him, the books will be opened, and that chapter that was closed will be opened.

All of a sudden, fear came over me, because the blood of these men will be over me.

Because of my own life, I did not help them.

Beloved, this is intercession.

I regret today so deeply that incident.

Although that time I said Lord I love you, we can also get up tell the church God loves you, the pastor loves you so much.

But are we willing to lay down our lives for the church?

Now you have been given many opportunities at intercession.

There are times God will share with you His heart, and you get to decide how to respond.

And many times we say that is too bad, and move on.

Which is saying God I can’t be bothered about that.

Many times we started, took it and prayed but left halfway.

But very few would carry it and take it through to finish it.

The difference between the prayer warrior and intercessor, now in that mission I was a prayer warrior / people of prayer.

Prayer warriors are willing to petition God to do things, without necessarily wanting God to answer the prayer through us.

The intercessor will stand and say, Lord I’m willing to go.

People of prayer are willing to pray, but we are not bound to continue praying until we get solution.

So we raise prayer, and we are done praying, we say amen and say Lord we put it in your hands, without sense of release in the spirit it is done.

Intercessors however, carry a responsibility to take on the burden of God’s heart, and don’t go free until the objective has been gained.

They will pay whatever price, to see the objective gained.

Dr John also mentioned something about a pavilion of intercession, in Intercessors Training for Singapore: Session 3 article.

Once you have pressed through, and gain that platform / pavilion, and it has been tested and proven.

You gain authority to operate in that area, like a badge.

So let’s say healing, you are praying for someone with cancer, and you press through, you gain the platform.

You take on death with the person, and take it on with them, pray through, and God heals them.

You will be tested, are you to take the glory for yourself, oh me I’m an anointed healer, man of God.

But once you go through that, God can then trust you with healing.

To operate in that platform and authority, to deal with healing.

Your faith will be at the level, where it will not be a challenge anymore.

Jesus said something so profound, a man came to him saying my servant is sick, and Jesus said I’m coming to heal him, even if he’s not a doctor.

Where does he get that kind of confidence from?

It is a platform that He has gained.

The apostles saw the man at the temple gate, looked at him, and prayed for him but nothing happened.

But they have already gained that platform, so they picked him up and he stood up instantly.

See they weren’t struggling with faith, because they were already operating with authority in that area.

Yes you will pay a price for it, but the rewards are astronomical.

You get to feel his heart, his pain, and treats you as his friend, then you have authority to address the situation.

You don’t have to go pray and fast.

Remember Naaman the lepper sent to king of Israel, with letter asking for healing.

And the king said he’s provoking me, looking for war.

Then Elijah heard about it, and said send him to me.

Nobody outside of Miriam, had been healed of leprosy before this.

Jesus himself said this, in that time, there were many leppers in Israel, and not one were cleansed except Naaman.

And Elijah said send him to me, and the king sent Naaman.

But Elijah sent his servant, to tell him go dip yourself in water seven times.

And he was operating in authority.

And the only limit to this, is the will of God.

Today we have sought to present to you a different vantage point of intercession, labouring to show you its real, and from the heart of God.

God is looking for you to stand with him like this.

We are aware this might be different from what you have been taught.

And for some of you, this might be a little difficult for you to hear.
