This series on Bible Typologies is based off my notes, which I took as I studied the Bible and various resources on this topic in Feb 2025.
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Gen 2:21-22, KJV
Story (Gen 2:8-25):
God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man Adam whom He had formed, on the sixth day of creation, in the garden.
Please refer to Bible Typologies: God’s Six Days Creation and Seventh Day Rest article, for the creation account.
And out of the ground in the garden of Eden, the Lord put trees to grow, that is pleasant to sight and good for food.
The tree of life is also in the midst of the garden, and tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from thence it parted to become four heads.
And God took the man He created, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress and keep it.
And the Lord God commanded the man saying, of every tree of the garden you may freely eat.
But the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it.
For in the day you eat of it, you shall surely die.
And the Lord said, it is not good that man should be alone, I will make him a help meet for him.
And outbid the ground, God formed every beast of the field, and fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them.
And whatever Adam called every living creature, was its name thereof, as he gave names to all cattle, and fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field.
But for Adam, there was not found a help meet for him.
And God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and while he slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up his flesh thereof.
And the rib, which God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her into the man Adam.
And Adam said, this is now bones of my bones, and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Typology:
Adam was put to sleep, and pierced on his right side, to bring out the bride Eve, Passover typology.
Jesus says I declare the end from the beginning (Isa 46:9-10).
I’m going to tell you what I’m going do, before I do it.
So he told us, in types and shadows.
So God says, I tell things in type, or typologies.
So He said, when am I going to get my bride? At a Passover.
And this corresponds well to our discussion in Bible Typologies: Joshua Leading the Israelites to Cross River Jordan article, that the rapture will happen during Passover.
Where the Israelites crossed the river Jordan, and entered the promise land, and celebrated Passover in the promise land.
So we the church, will be raptured during Passover, and celebrate Passover in heaven with Jesus.
What do you think, is the first thing we are going to do when we get up to heaven?
We are going to be in the throne room, Jesus is going to be crowned.
He’s going to start opening the seals, but we all know, we are going to eat.
There’s going to be a giant banquet, everybody is going to get cups.
Wine cups with their own making, every size and shape.
But everyone will have individual cup, and we can drink as much as we want to.
And no one is compelled, but we know we are going have a big feast, the feast of the Lamb.
Let’s get ready as believers in Christ, to enjoy the glories of God in heaven, which He has prepared for us, eagerly expecting His coming!
